A Van Gogh Moment
“I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night” - Sarah Williams
Mother Nature calls and it just happens to be 3am when I venture out into the darkness towards the outhouse. I know that before heading out into the dark of the night, I should scan the area to check that it is all clear from the shining eyes of nocturnal creatures. I prefer not to scan, not to know what may be lurking.
The flashlight is off and the only sounds I hear are an owl and something scurrying in the forest brush. Darkness surrounds me. Shadows play on my silly fears. Maybe I should have scanned the area!
I inhale deeply and release my exhale in a whisper to help quiet my mind. The farm is still and I am at peace. All the animals are tucked in safe and deep in slumber.
It is a clear night and the starry sky is brilliant and magical. I slowly turn around to capture the 360 view. The vastness of the sky envelops me and I feel like just a tiny speck among the universe. I am truly in awe! Tonight the constellations are easily recognizable and if I am not mistaken, I do believe I see a planet. A shooting star captures my attention and slowly streaks across the sky, so of course I make a wish. The shadows reveal themselves, just silhouettes of the mountains, the trees, the barn and the farmhouse.
Sleep calls me back into HAPPY, my cozy camper. I am grateful for Mother Nature sharing the beauty of the night sky with me here at Lemon Lane Farm in Grandview, TN.
Do you have a magical starry night sky place to share?
